Her self esteem was very low. The first session we had with Nikki, I knew she would do great with my daughter. Her patience is wonderful! My daughter would take a long time to answer and Nikki would give her time, then talk her through the problem. She eventually got to where she didn’t need as much guidance. Her self esteem started to increase with every correct answer. And it reflected in school as well. She was able to take her skills to the classroom and pass her classes.
I also put my son with Ms. Nikki. He is my straight A student, loves school and loves his sessions with Nikki. I like the way she challenges him to think outside the box and think on his own instead of just following textbook material. He is great with research and reading because of her. Math is his strong subject, but the writing and the reading is what needs improvement. He has certainly improved and continues to like being challenged by assignments that he wouldn’t normally get in a school setting.
Nikki’s patience is definitely what makes her great at her craft! She gets to know her students and what they need, or how to connect so she can draw them in and get them excited about learning. "Our family has had an amazing experience with Nikki's tutoring business! We began working with Nikki in January 2021 during the pandemic when our second-grade daughter was struggling to focus on her online lessons and was starting to dislike school. Right from the first session, we could see Nikki's passion for teaching and her ability to keep students engaged through online learning. Our daughter started looking forward to her sessions with Nikki, and after six months, we noticed a significant improvement in her grades. We also hired her to work with our son on his executive functioning skills so he could learn to better manage his academic work.
Fast forward three years and both our daughter (6th grade) and son (10th grade) are still working with Nikki, and we couldn't be more thrilled with their progress. They continued to work with her during virtual and in-person schooling, and their grades have improved to the point where they both received straight "As" last semester. They take pride in their schoolwork and have developed strong organizational and planning skills with Nikki's help. They are so enthusiastic about working with her that they asked to take her Spanish classes and requested to work with her during their breaks. During the past two summers, they worked with her to prevent summer learning loss and on individual projects – our daughter wrote a chapter book, developed and managed a slime business, and our son wrote several short stories and developed a travel website chronicling our families' year-long cross-country road trip.
Working with Nikki lets us focus on being parents. While we reinforce their academic work, it's a relief to have someone else as part of our village. With two older children now in their 20s, we've learned that sometimes our children listen better to others than to us. Additionally, Nikki keeps us updated about any important information from the school and is always available to help troubleshoot any new challenges. We both work full-time and own small businesses, so this is a lifesaver! As you can see from the length of this review, our family absolutely loves working with Nikki and considers her an essential part of our children's academic progress.
